Charles Trimble on NovAtel Board
Charles R. Trimble has been appointed to the NovAtel Inc. (NASDAQ: NGPS) board of directors.
Trimble was one of the founders of Trimble Navigation Limited and served as president and chief executive officer from 1981 to 1998. He guided Trimble to a dominant role in the GPS information technology market.
Prior to that, Trimble was manager of integrated circuit research and development at Hewlett Packard’s Santa Clara division. He holds four patents in signal processing and several in GPS, and serves as the chairman of the United States GPS Industry Council.
He received his B.S. in engineering (physics) with honors in 1963, and an M.S. in electrical engineering in 1964 from the California Institute of Technology.
“Charlie has led the GPS industry since its very inception,” said Jim Close, chairman of NovAtel’s board of directors. “We are excited to have him involved with NovAtel,” he said.
“As the GPS industry transforms itself into an international positioning and information utility, NovAtel is helping develop the core technology for these international initiatives,” said Trimble. “These are tremendous times for our industry, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to continue to influence its direction,” he said.Edit Module
