Dutra Plans to Reorganize

The Dutra Group announced its Plan of Reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code on January 27. With approval of the plan, the company will emerge from bankruptcy with $13 million in new financing.

The company will operate as Dutra Dredging and Materials, with offices in San Rafael, California. It will work through two main operators: Dutra Dredging, which will provide dredging, marine construction and heavy lift capabilities, and Dutra Materials, which will offer a full range of rock and asphalt products to the Northern California market.

Dutra Dredging will operate its two new marine hydraulic excavators and its fleet of new 5000-cubic-yard dump scows, as well as its traditional clamshell equipment. Locally, the company will continue its shoreline and bank protection work in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, dredging in the Northern California waterways, concentrating efforts on the San Francisco Bay Area bridge retrofit projects. The company will also continue its dredging operations on the east and west coasts.

Dutra Materials will direct its efforts to meeting the demand for a full range of rock and asphalt concrete products from its San Rafael, Richmond, Petaluma, Hayward and Middletown quarry sites. San Rafael Rock Quarry is the only Northern California quarry with direct waterside access and loading facilities, which enables nearby and distant clients to receive aggregate, rip rap and other rock products by efficient and economical water transportation. The quarry can custom blend a variety of screened and crushed products to meet specific needs.

Dutra Dredging and Materials has a broad range of marine equipment available for charter as well as lay-down and load-out areas available for construction support operations.
