Teledyne to Acquire CARIS in Second Quarter of 2016

Teledyne Technologies Inc. and CARIS jointly announced in April that the CARIS business and its international affiliates (collectively, “CARIS”) have agreed to be acquired by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teledyne. CARIS, headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, is the developer of geospatial soft-ware designed for the hydrographic and marine community.

Corps Performs Lakebed Imaging Study for Erosion Analysis

Last year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District began a lakebed imaging study to determine changes near the New Buffalo, Michi-gan, area. The Detroit District Hydrology and Hydraulics Office is analyzing the data to under-stand how the sand is moving and why, and what might be done to alleviate problems with erosion. In September 2015, 11 scientists and engineers spent two weeks collecting data to quantify the changes in the amount of sand in the coastal zone.

Sola-Cure, the U.K. based antiglare window blind supplier, has recently installed blinds on the 16.5-meter (54-feet) survey vessel Porth Dinllaen, owned by Holyhead-based company, Turbine Transfers Ltd. and is currently under charter to Van Oord as part of the Liverpool2 deepwater container terminal project on the west coast of England.

CodaOctopus Underwater Survey Explorer software has the latest maintenance update, version 6.2.0. The release is a visualization and processing software suite for the Echoscope range of real-time 3D sonars. Its updates include the ability to install all USE software variants on a single workstation, user-defined integrated pan & tilt presets, and enhanced accuracy and consistency of outer beam data.
