IADC Releases 50th Anniversary Book Beyond Sand & Sea

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has released “Beyond Sand & Sea,” a book describing in text and highquality photos the achievements of its members in the 50-year history of the organization. Photos and accounts of 50 “iconic projects” fill the 204 pages of the 9.5- by 9.5-inch high quality, full-color volume. The focus is on the accomplishments of IADC members decade by decade, starting in 1965, the year IADC was formed with 38 members from 12 countries. That number has swelled to 100 affiliated members “with regional offices and joint ventures … on every inhabited continent and in every ocean and sea,” IADC President Peter de Ridder writes in the foreword.

Agencies Will Announce NDGPS Decision in Federal Register Notice

The three agencies responsible for the fate of the Nationwide Differential Global Positioning System (NDGPS) will post their decision in the Federal Register as soon as it is signed by all representatives, Capt. Scott Smith, Coast Guard Chief of Navigation Systems told IDR on January 18. Representatives of the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been analyzing comments received in response to their August 18, 2015 announcement that they intended to shut the system down.

WEDA Gulf Coast Chapter Hosts Annual Meeting in New Orleans

The Western Dredging Association’s Gulf Coast Chapter (WEDA) held its annual meeting November 19 at the Marriot AC Hotel in downtown New Orleans. The one-day seminar, which attracted about 130 registrants, featured speakers that included U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials, coastal restoration leaders, a port director and even a Louisiana gubernatorial candidate.

JT CLEARY CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

In September, JT Cleary celebrated 20 years in marine construction. Company milestones include incorporation and startup in New York City in 1995; expansion along the Eastern Seaboard in 2000; and creation of the dredging division in 2005. The company experienced an increase in contract awards in 2010 and unveiled a new corporate brand in 2015.
