POSTLE INDUSTRIES INTRODUCES TUBULAR HARDFACING ELECTRODES

Postle Industries announced its latest hardface welding development, tubular hardfacing electrodes for severe abrasion applications. For the dredging and aggregate industries, the products are applied to the wear surfaces of dredge pump impellers, cutterheads and teeth, dredge bucket lips and teeth, tooth adaptors, cutter arms, clam-shell buckets, auger suction dredges, wear plates and screens, crushers, hammers and gravel washer augers.

St. Paul District Celebrates 150 Years

In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District celebrates its sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary. The district held a ball on February 13 at the Lost Spur Banquet and Conference Center in Eagan, Minnesota. The district is also hosting a number of open houses around the district over the year to celebrate with the public, and all regular events (summer awards party, retirees’ reunion, history day and annual open houses) will be 150th anniversary themed.

Damen Celebrates 25 years of DOP Submersible Dredge Pumps

This year Damen Dredging Equipment, the dredging subsidiary of the Damen Shipyards Group and its DOP submersible dredge pump is celebrating a milestone anniversary. The DOP was the first pump of its kind, designed by Damen a quarter of a century ago. It had a modest start: a contractor with a tunnel project was looking for a small sized dredge pump with plenty of power. Damen modified an existing dredge pump, added a casing and the rest is history. Over the past decades the DOP submersble dredge pump has become a well-known tool in the dredging world – with hundreds of units sold over all continents.

Teledyne to Acquire CARIS in Second Quarter of 2016

Teledyne Technologies Inc. and CARIS jointly announced in April that the CARIS business and its international affiliates (collectively, “CARIS”) have agreed to be acquired by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teledyne. CARIS, headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, is the developer of geospatial soft-ware designed for the hydrographic and marine community.

Wilmington District and Dredge Currituck Assist with Boulder Removal in Connecticut

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilm-ington District and the dredge Currituck came to the aid of the New England Division, which called upon the district to remove boulders in the Narragansett Bay in Connecticut, which were posing navigation hazards.
