DSC DELIVERS DREDGE TO NCDOT

This spring the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) took delivery of a DSC cutter suction dredge, to work in the state-maintained intracoastal ferry channels, from Cape Fear River near Wilmington to Currituck Sound near the North Carolina-Virginia state line. It will also maintain an emergency route between Stumpy Point and Rodanthe, south of Nags Head – the route used when North Carolina Highway 12 is out of service due to a storm or other event.

New Design Gives ‘Four Wheel Drive’ to Amphibious Excavator Tracked Pontoons

Malaysian manufacturer EIK Engineering is marketing a new system for amphibious excavators that replaces a single chain drive with four direct-drive hydraulic motors mounted on the axles. Sales and Marketing Director C.Y. Wong and Branch Manager Pavel Syrtsov introduced the system at WODCON XXI in Miami.

Dredge Hurley Works Along the Mississippi River

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dredge Hurley performed maintenance work outside of New Madrid port in New Madrid, Missouri. Prior to that the Memphis District dredge was working at the Olmstead Lock and Dam project, clearing sediment from the winter months at the project site, which it has done for the last several years. The dustpan Dredge Hurley works up and down the Mississippi River, along with the Corps’ Dredge Potter, to remove shoals and keep navigation open.

Tecnoimport in Cuba Orders Hopper Dredge from Royal IHC

Royal IHC, headquartered in Kinderdijk, the Netherlands, has signed a contract with a Cuban company for a state-of-the-art dredge. The Easydredge® 3,700 trailing suction hopper dredge was ordered by Tecnoimport and Empresa Constructora de Obras Marítimas of Havana, Cuba. The contract was signed in early June in the presence of Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of The Netherlands and Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice president of the Council of Ministers and Executive Committee of Cuba. The signers were area sales director at Royal IHC Hans Hesen and Jose Tomas Romero Villar, managing director of Tecnoimport.

Brevard County Project Proves Gator Aquatic Technologies New Treatment Process

In January 2016, Gator Aquatic Technologies launched as a new company, armed with numerous projects and demand for its new technology that combines liquid solids separation with soluble nutrient and contaminant removal in a single phase. The technology is at work on a project in Brevard County, Florida, in the Indian River Lagoon, removing phosphorus and nitrogen from the contaminated sediment and water along the waterway.

Italian Chemical Industry Adopts Dragflow’s Remote-Controlled Dredge DRP18

Dragflow has recently delivered a small, remote-controlled dredge, the DRP18, to Candeo Agostino of Padova, Italy, as part of the remediation program at Momentive, an internationally known chemical company with an important presence in Italy. Candeo Agostino is in the field of cleaning and environmental hygiene, with ecological interventions for small, medium and large users for civil and industrial applications. The company conducts environmental inspections and analyses, including sludge dewatering, water filtration, transport and disposal of waste.
