Dawson Making Frac Sand from Tailings

Since 2008, Ricky Dawson, of Bluff Creek WAM, has been using the Pump Vacuum Systems (PVS) JetPump to mine and separate aggregates from sand in two locations in Louisiana. (See IDR, January/February 2008, Jet Pump Drives Portable Unit that Re-Mines Tailings.) Because the sand did not meet the size requirements for concrete or hydraulic fracturing (frac) sand, it was stockpiled.

The San Carlos Irrigation and Drainage District (SCIDD) in Coolidge, Arizona, has purchased an electrically powered Barracuda Class dredge from DSC Dredge, LLC to maintain the settling basin at the headworks of the Ashurst-Hayden Diversion Structure on the Florence-Casa Grande Canal.

In June, the Corps of Engineers Alaska District dredged the Cook Inlet Navigation Channel for the first time since its construction in 1999-2000, for safe ship passage between Knik Arm Shoal and the Port of Anchorage. This work was done on the channel, after sudden shoaling increased in recent years, reducing depths and affecting navigation.

Dredge Goliath Working on Liverpool2

A joint venture of BAM Nuttall and Van Oord was awarded a £75 million pound (about $117 million) contract for Liverpool2, a new container terminal project that will open up the United Kingdom and Ireland to Asia, Middle East and the Americas shipping, after the new Panama Canal opens in 2015. Goliath, one of the world’s largest backhoe dredges, started work on the project in September.

EnerGreen Technologies Ltd., a European distributor for EnerTeck (OTC: ETCK) and EnerTeck Chemical, announced in mid-February that the Jan de Nul Group had launched an evaluation of the companys EnerBurn, a diesel fuel catalytic combustion accelerator and its complementary injection technology.
