CGC Dredging performed work at Port Geographe, located in Western Australia, with cutter suction dredge Cooper II. It dredged seaweed and sand accumulations and preparing the seafloor for rock placement for a new seawall, which would diminish shoaling and alleviate maintenance dredging in the future.

J. E. Borries Purchses New DSC Dredge for Gulf Coast Barrier Island Reconstruction

J.E. Borries Inc., a 22-year-old, familyowned, full-service marine construction and dredging company based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, took delivery of an eight-inch Badger Class dredge by DSC Dredge, LLC in December 2014. Prior to this dredge purchase, J.E. Borries dredged by mechanical means, using a long-reach excavator or a clamshell friction crane. Barrier island reconstruction is an ongoing effort along this section of the Mississippi coast, following the siltation that occurred during Hurricane Isaac in 2012. The company recently was awarded a project by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources to complete the dredging of three bayous in and around Gulfport, Mississippi.

HIGGS HYDROGRAPHIC TEK LAUNCHES SURVEY VESSEL

Higgs Hydrographic Tek has launched the Higgs Survey Launch H*S*L, a small survey vessel that’s suited for single beam and bathymetric surveying. The vessel handles exceptionally well in rough conditions and have a large carrying capacity at low speeds. It can carry a variety of payloads, single beam sonar, bathmetric sonar, side scan sonar and multibeam sonar. Heading GNSS can be placed two meters apart with a INS motion sensor on the same mount.

ALLU INTRODUCES GPS 3D POSITIONING SYSTEM

ALLU Group, Inc. has introduced the Allu 3D Positioning System, the newest addition to the Allu lineup of mass stabilization products for the geotechnical market and solidification/stabilization (S/S) in the remediation market. The new system uses GPS signals to precisely locate the Allu PMX excavator-mounted power mixing head, guiding the excavator operator to feed the correct amount of binder and to thoroughly mix each block of the job matrix.
