WODA Hosts Acoustics Workshop

The World Organization of Dredging Association (WODA) workshop on March 26 in Paris, presented the latest knowledge on the acoustic impacts of dredging on aquatic species. Entitled “Underwater Sound in Relation to Dredging,” the workshop was based on the work of the two working groups that drafted the Central Dredging Association (CEDA) position paper of the same title in November 2011 and the associated WODA Technical Guidance in June 2013.

DSC Wins Gulf Coast Trade Award

DSC Dredge, LLC, based in Reserve, Louisiana, was awarded the inaugural Gulf Coast Trade Alliance Export Achievement Award for the state of Louisiana. The Gulf Coast Trade Alliance honored DSC with the award on April 21, 2015, at a luncheon during the 15th Annual Gulf Coast Trade Alliance World Trade Conference, which took place April 21 and 22 in Point Clear, Alabama.

WEDA Dredging Summit & Expo Set for Houston

The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) and the Texas A&M University will host its annual conference, the 2015 Dredging Summit & Expo at the Westin Galleria in Houston, Texas, from June 22 to 25. The theme of the conference, “Dredgers, the Environment and Commerce,” will focus on the people and organizations that make dredging happen, and the environmental and commercial impacts of dredging. This includes discussions about the critical economic need for dredging, trends in dredging technology and safety and historical dredging development.

Great Lakes Reports Year-End Results and Record Backlog

In its year end final quarter financial statement released on February 24, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (NASDAQ:GLDD), reported record backlog of $670 million, compared to $543 million in 2013.

GLDD Acquires Magnus Pacific

On November 4, 2014, Great Lake Dredge & Dock acquired the stock of Magnus Pacific Corporation, which provides environmental remediation, geotechnical construction, demolition, and sediments and wetlands construction, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $40 million. Magnus is now part of the GLDD Environmental & Remediation segment, along with Terra Contracting, LLC, acquired in December 2012.

J.E. McAmis Acquires Site for New Marine Facility

J.E. McAmis has acquired a new 122-acre West Coast Marine facility in Cowlitz County, Washington, on the Mouth of the Old Cowlitz River at Columbia River mile 68. It is anticipated that J.E. McAmis will complete a full relocation of its Northwest field operations to the new facility by the fourth quarter of 2015.
