Brussels based Group De Cloedt has contracted with Kooiman Marine Group in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, to convert dry cargo vessel DC Eems to a trailing suction hopper dredge.

The vessel, managed by EemsWerken, (family Kornet) from Werkendam, measures approximately 90 meters (295 feet) x 15 meters (49 feet). Once completed, the ship will have a hopper of 2,450 cubic meters (3,204 cubic yards) and will be renamed as a new member of the Group De Cloedt dredging fleet.

Kooiman Marine Group is undertaking the engineering and conversion project at their shipyard and expects work to be completed by 2018.
