IMX Expands Education Sessions; J.F. Brennan to Host Sessions on Dock Construction and Maintenance

The Inland Marine Expo (IMX), the annual trade show for the inland and intracoastal commercial marine industry, held at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri, from May 22 to 24, will include expanded education with an increased focus on topics pertinent to marine contractors and facility operators.

Mark Binsfeld of J.F. Brennan Company will lead two sessions on dock construction and barge terminal efficiency. “Dock Construction and Maintenance – Best Practices to Increase Efficiency,” will take place Tuesday, May 22, from 3 to 3:45 p.m. This discussion will focus on ways to increase efficiencies through preventative maintenance and upgrades. A collection of contractors and engineers who specialize in the design, construction and repair of inland river barge terminals will give a short presentation on some of the best designs and upgrades that have provided their clients with increased efficiency.

Binsfeld will also moderate a discussion on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. on “Barge Terminals – Increase Your Efficiency and Save Money.” This panel is a collection of operators and inland marine service providers who operate a variety of terminals and fleets. Each provider will give examples of what he or she views as ideal structures, mechanical systems and conditions from the operator viewpoint.

Informa Economics IEG will present several sessions on barge trends by cargo and type, and port/industrial development trends, with forecasts of what types of cargo, infrastructure spending and levels of tonnage can be expected in the upcoming years.

On Wed., May 24, at 9 a.m., Informa will team up with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to provide a glance at the state of the US Economy and critical Policy as it relates to the waterways.
